Critter Challenge #33
On to today's challenge. This week, we had a sketch, designed by my dear online friend Kelly. This girl is super talented so make sure you hop over to her blog and check out her stuff!
As I usually do a scrapbook page, I really used this sketch as a starting point, and took quite a big of creative license with it. I tried to keep it the same, but it just kept changing. Instead of the "brads" in the corners I use the stars - some are flat stickers and others are chipboard. I loved the patterned paper and it just didn't lend to a photo being placed square in the middle like the sketch so I moved it over a little... I added a few extra chipboard embellishments and the journaling block. I am really happy with how it turned out. My boys totally love that #1 we didn't get mad when it happened and #2 that I actually scrapbooked it!
Here's Kelly's Sketch:

Elephants - San Diego Zoo
This paper is all from DCVW - Safari Kids. Such a fabulous paper pack for zoo pictures! I cut the three elephants on the left from one of the pages, rounded the corners and matted them. I thin popped them up. The strips along the top were cut from another page. They are hiding a tear in the paper - which is the only thing I hate about paper stacks - sometimes the glue makes it next to impossible to take the pages out without tearing them.

Blog Group Challenge - Competing Princesses
Hey... 2 posts in one day! Shocking right?!
Well.. I totally forgot to post this card for our blog groups competition... although it isn't really a competition, no winners.. but just fun.
This month, Colleen, sent us this fabulous card kit. I added the pink and white matting and the yellow base.
Enjoy!
PS... sorry about the lackluster photo - had to use my cell phone.. and well.. it just doesn't take as nice of photos as my Nikon D90, which needs to be fixed.. uggh!!
Monster's Inc.
I have decided to do a page for each "movie" from the parade.

Critter Challenge #31
This week she also really challenged us to step it up.... something other than a card ... think altered item for a teacher or special school friend... but since she's an amazing person she also gave us an "out" ... if we had a difficult time thinking outside of the box, then we could make a school themed card. Well, since I usually make scrapbook pages, I took that I shouldn't make a scrapbook page for this week. I really struggled to come up with something.. and had decided that I would scrap my boys' (last years) back to school photos... but couldn't find them. So, while doing some organizing this week, I came across these little mint tins and thought... oh.. I could make something for ME!
Not only does September mean back to school for the kids, it means back to work for me. I'm a teacher and currently teach "on call" (or substitute as some people call them). In our province we are officially called TTOCs (Teachers Teaching on Call).. but I always just say TOC.
So.. I made myself a little tin for business cards and made up my own business cards that I can leave for teachers when I've been called into their classrooms and I'll also put them up in staff rooms of the schools I go to so other teachers can call me!
This is the top of my tin.. and I positioned it in front of the business card... (don't want all my info out on the net - so I covered up my phone and email addy). Here is the business card. And... I just have to clarify - as my 13 year old niece asked me why it said "BABED" after my name.. it actually stands for Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Education.
And here is the side view - I wrapped some alphabet twill ribbon around it and attached it with Sookwang tape.
So don't forget to hop over to the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog each week this month for your chance to win a 15 dollar gift certificate from Sew Many Cards.

D.A.R.E.
DARE stands for Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education. All Grade 5 students must take this training in our School District. It is a fabulous program that is taught by an RCMP member. The kids have a lesson every week for 10 weeks and then have to write an essay in order to 'Graduate'. This was Carsyn's graduation.
This was the very first layout I used my sewing machine for. I sewed along the red strips... definitely need some practice - but I love it!
White and red paper is Coredinations, blue is Bazzill. I cut the letters from the Varsity Cricut Lite cartridge.

The Pumpkin Patch
I'm sure you must all be sick of seeing my pictures from the Pumpkin patch.. I seem to do a ton of layouts from there... but it has become such a fun family tradition.. I just need to document every moment of it.
These pictures were put on a layout I received in a swap. Unfortunately I don't know the creator.. if it was you, please let me know so that I can give you proper credit.

The Girls... The Boys..
I cut out the "girl and boy" words from "A Child's Year". I had to cut the s' out separately and just added them to it. The "the"s were cut from Graphically Speaking. Added ribbon from my stash and the brown half pearls from Kaiser. I also outlined the letters using my White gel pen.

Cousins
Here is a layout I did of all the cousins on my hubby's side of the family. The photo is 8x10..
The paper and words came from an album kit I received at Christmas. I added the brown ribbon and half pearls.

Hockey!
My oldest loves to play hockey.. this is a photo that was taken by a professional photographer at a hockey tournament. I just love this pic.. it reminds me so much of how he gets right down low at a face off.. watching, and waiting for that puck to drop!
Super simple layout.. the title and sticks were on the paper.. I added the photo mat and ribbons to embellish it.

Crazy Hair Day? Nope.. just another day on the ...
Okay.. I needed these pictures to help me cool down.. as I'm typing this it s 33 degrees Celcius on a very hot August Monday evening at almost 8PM!! (Yep - I scheduled this last month)... I was really hoping by looking at some snow pictures it might have cooled me down... it's not working so far.
Anyways... this was such a fun day... these were taken in the winter of 2008, just before Christmas. I absolutely love the picture of me with my wild hair. It also makes the boys laugh!
These pages were done for a swap and were created by Lorrie (SCS - Cre8tingMemories) .. LOVE THEM!!!
