CCC #4

Here is the challenge.... Kelly wanted us to use flowers....

I made this card for my mom's birthday. I used a card kit that I received from Molly in an element SS swap. I added the yellow paper but that's it. I used cuttlebug to "Swiss Dot" the mat. I used the Cricut to cut a 5 inch circle and then cut it at about 2 inches to make the not quite half circle. The Happy Birthday stamp I thought I would use white to stamp in - but it was too light - so instead of wasting the piece of paper I thought I would check my oranges to see which was better - I somehow managed to line it up with the white stamp and thought it looked cool - so my "mistake" turned into something nice. The flowers are a stack of three with a jewelled brad in the center. I think the orange ribbon finishes it off. I also used a card sketch from Splitcoast.

I have no crafty pictures today :(

EDITED TO ADD: Apparently I started this on April 23rd... and blogger has posted it as being typed that day... but I have updated this as of May 12th, so that it is more current. Talk about confusing!!

So.. I'm not sure why this never got posted... I typed this a couple of weeks ago while teaching.. it was obviously a tough day (LOL).

I haven't had a chance to do a whole lot of scrapping done in the last little while. Although I did go to a layout class two weeks ago, and let me tell you the layout is AMAZING... I might actually put pictures on it. I love all of the layout classes I've done, but I've yet to put pictures on them. Does anyone else do that? It is the same with swaps - I've got a ton of swap pages and I think I've only used a few of them. One of my goals this summer (when I know I won't be working) is to use up my swap layouts and border sets.

I had hoped to share some of the LOTWs I've been working on... but I just realized that I have sent two sets away without taking any pictures of them. I'm really not sure where my head was on that!!

We've been busy as a family again... with the kids going back to school (after a two week spring break), I was shocked to get a call to go to work on the first Monday back. That Monday turned into the whole week and then I work 4 days the following week. I'm certainly not complaining, the extra money on the paycheck was great considering I really didn't expect to work in April.

Carsyn and I headed up to Port McNeill for their "Mud Bowl" Soccer Tournament. I'll be stayed with a friend that I graduated highschool with and we hadn't seen each other in a couple years - it was nice to catch up. This weekend we are off to Nanaimo for the soccer mini world cup.

Brayden and Butch are going to had a weekend to themselves (while Carsyn and I were in Port McNeill). Butch challenged Brayden to budget, shop for and cook him a meal. Brayden has been cooking meals about once a week for the past couple of months. He makes a "mean" stirfry - and does very well when he remembers that the knife is supposed to cut the beef - not his finger. A couple of weeks ago we ended up with a quick trip to the walk-in clinic after he cut the tip of his finger off! No stitches - thank goodness as I didn't want a repeat of stitches - Brayden DOES NOT like needles!!

According to Butch his dinner was delicious and he is definitely looking forward to repeating it.

I have just searched my camera for something crafty to add to this post.... but... I don't have anything that I can share just yet. I have done 2 secret sister photo swaps but I can't share the pictures yet because the people I created the layouts for have not received them. One of the sets had a picture that I just fell in love with and felt that it needed to be its own separate layout. I am so proud of it and can't wait to share. Everyone who has seen it... including my very non-crafty husband.. has commented how beautiful it is.. I hope you will enjoy it when I can share it!!

Sorry for the long......... craftless post... but I will make sure I get something up after my crop tomorrow night.

More Layouts For the Boys

Here is a layout from pictures I took last summer while we were camping. This is at Miracle Beach.

My boys Brayden and Carsyn, my niece and nephew Mikaela and Riley, their friends Riccardo and Grayeme.

I love that I was able to use six photos in one layout. The titles came from a sheet of beach words - I don't know who the designer is. I added a cute little swim trunks brad.

This layout is for Brayden's book. He played on the Whalers this year and these pictures came from his first hockey game of the season. The paper, puck, "Hockey" sticker "We Rock" sticker and the letter stickers all came from a Secret Sister Swap. I added the purple Coordinations and found the teal strips all came from my scrap . I added the skate brad that I got from www.eyeletoutlet.com

CCC #3

Here is challenge #3 for our Crafty Critters Blog Group.

Here is my rendition of an Easter Egg designed with Scrapbook supplies.

I kept it simple.

I took some mulberry paper, got it wet and wrapped it around it. Then took a piece of Terrifically Tacky tape, wrapped it around the middle and then added some flowers. I Stickled the centers. I thought I would do more... but when I got to this point I thought if I continued on it would be over done.

A Day at the Beach!

So hard to believe that April 1st we had snow, and today it hit 20c (68 f). My sister, Megan had a great idea to head to the beach to have a weiner roast. My mom lives across the road from a fabulous beach that is perfect for hanging out and roasting weiners.

We packed the kids in the car and headed out. Mikaela, Meg's daughter is away for spring break and we had an extra, Carsyn's friend Riccardo who stays with us often. Mom walked across the road and joined us as well.

Here are a few pictures of our fabulous day!!

A little bit of scrappy stuff!

I've been busy doing swaps. My new found addiction is LOTWs. These Letter Of The Words are quick and easy and cheap to mail! Here are a few that I have done in the past week or two.

The 'n' is for Nana.... I love this and will be perfect for my boys' Nana.. she loves pink roses. I cut the rose from the "Indie Art" Cricut cartridge and the 'n' is from Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge. I Stickled the rose and added a sequin sticker on the 'n'.

The "O" is for Mom. The orange base layer and shadow of the 'O' is a Coordination paper - it is black on the other side. The pink layer and 'O' was a scrap that I think came from a stack of paper from Walmart. The patterned paper is from DCWV The Glitter Stack - which I LOVE!!. I added the orange flower eyelet and Stickled both the center of the eyelet and the O. Took the basic idea from a card I made a couple weeks ago (see post below).

The "O" is for Son. All of this paper came from an 'American Traditional Designs" stack I got last summer - and I'd totally forgotten about it! The bottom layer is orange not pink as it looks in this photo. The orange ribbon is from Dollarama. I Stickled the polka dots on the blue layer with Lime Green Stickle. This is one of my favourites - I love the bright, fun colours.

The 'a' is for Dad. White base layer is Coordinations, the black layer is Coordinations as well (I think - I've sent them away already so I can't double check.) The striped layer is Heidi Grace Designs - Midnight Kisses| Pinstripe. The 'a' is Prisma paper - I can't remember the name - but it is one of my favourite colours. The black ribbon is from Walmart and I Stickled the black layer with Black Diamond stickles.

These two pages were for a "What a Mess?!" swap on Splitcoast. The "It wasn't me." Paper I left pretty much to its own.. I added a photo mat that I matted with the red that matches the second page. I cut out the 'footprint' journal box and tacked that over one of the footprints already printed on the paper. As an embellishment I added the red brad in the period. The "Sometimes I can resist temptation.. but never mischief page" is printed on the paper. I cut out the filmstrip from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge and the stars are from my new favourite cartridge the Indie Art Cricut cartridge.

Last one for this post. This was for a Cricut swap. We had to use the cricut for our main element on the page. I used it for every element - with the exception of the white and blue on the journal box. I cut the title out of Plantin Schoolbook, the film strip from Mickey and Friends and the stars are from Indie Art. The black base of the journal box is one of the cut outs from the filmstrip.

I actually did two layouts for this swap but I forgot to take a picture of my "Fall" layouts (Melanie - if you are reading this - can you please take a picture for me!! ;-) Thanks!!)
