Critter Blog Group - VSD Projects

VSD #4 Challenge #1

This challenge was brought to us by April.

I have never worked with acetate, so this was a fun challenge. It was also a learning experience as I cut the card the wrong way, so it doesn't sit up all that well. I do love the embellishments, they actually came from a border swap that I hosted ages ago, and I used the borders on another project, and had these left over. I thought they fit well on this card. If you created these wonderful embellishments, let me know I'd gladly give you the credit you deserve.

Here are the instructions she gave us.

Here is the tutorial on SCS~acetate card
If you need some more inspiration....(check out April's fabulous card!!)...here is the gallery FULL of ideas~acetate gallery

This card can be any theme you want it to be and you can make it any way you want it. You don't even need to stamp on the acetate directly if you don't have the right kind of ink. Once you look through the gallery you will see many ideas and variations on how to use this awesome stuff.

VSD #4 Challenge #2

CHALLENGE #2 was brought to us by Melina.

She gave us a color challenge for you with a theme twist...

Colors were: Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Old Olive, Basic gray, Very Vanilla

Now for the theme twist. We had to make it a masculine card.

We also had to use pewter or silver embellishments.

What is not to love about Changito. I love this stamp - so versatile, can change it to fit any colour scheme. I used lots of layers, my friend Jennifer just recently stopped blogging, and I'm sad because she was an amazing card maker. She inspired me to use lots of layers, and while I didn't use as many as she does... I got close. (I honestly used to count her layers - it just fascinated me.. weird I know!) So.. Jennifer.. if you are reading this.. thanks for the inspiration!!

VSD #4 Challenge #3 GET INSPIRED!!

AnnMarie is so inspiring, I just love that she is even doing it through her challenge.

Here is her challenge.... Get Inspired!!

We were to create something for ourselves!! We had to figure out a goal and create a piece of art work that you can display in your craft space that will provide you with daily inspiration! One of my latest goals is to drink more water. I just plain and simple do not drink enough water. So.. I am also on a mission to use up my scraps, extra pieces etc. So I made this little sign completely out of scraps. The letters were extras from when I made millions of LOTWs... okay maybe not millions, but literally a thousand or so.

It is simple, but I like how colourful it is. I like that it also reminds me to use my scraps -even though that isn't the direct message conveyed.

VSD #4 Challenge #4

Sunday's first challenge was designed by Nancy.
Since the 4th of July is getting close, the theme is going to be Stars and Stripes with a twist. The twist is that your card must be some shape other than the traditional square or rectangle.

Also, so we Canadian peeps can play along, we did not have to use red, white or blue. The only requirement was that there be Stars and Stripes and the card must be some other shape than a traditional square or rectangle.

I received this glitter paper from a blog candy win. I used "A Child's Year" Cricut cartridge to cut out the butterfly card. It is little only 4 inches... so I just added the two "star" brads. The "sparkle" is from SU.

VSD #4 Challenge #5

Next up was a challenge from Melanie.

Christmas in July (???)
Our challenge was to create a Christmas card. That is it, nothing special required. NVR, just please try to use a minimum of 1 stamped image on your card.

I just love this Polar Bear from Imaginisce. I also used the "branch" punch from Martha Steward to make the "snowflakes". The patterned paper is also from Imaginisce. I wrapped a piece of fiber around the card. The "Merry Christmas" stamp was from Studio G.

Closing!!!! VSD #4

So, Melanie was just supposed to say good bye.. but she added a challenge... well I didn't read that post until 4:30...(30 minutes before our posts were due) ... so I quickly whipped up a card. It is missing something.. probably a sentiment, but I thought it came out good considering I did it in 20 minutes.

We had to create a card using this sketch:

Paper is all from my scrap bucket. Added a thin piece of brown ribbon. I love this stamp... which I received in a card kit, I had to search who it is by when I first got it... and forget now. Oops!
