CCC2 - Crafty Critters Challenge #2

Here is the second challenge for our Crafty Critters Blog Group. Today is our niece Brechan's 16th birthday. So i have made this card for her.

Here are Tracey's 'Rules':

The Challenge: Your challenge (if you chose to accept) is to create a card of any size that include a a few of my favorite things.
1 - Use SCS Card Sketch 180, click
here I love the sketch gallery, it gives us lots of inspiration
2 - Use pink and brown color combo, my fav color combo, as some of you know

3 - Include a flower on your card, it can be in your DP, a brad, diecut, prima, etc. I am always using flowers in my scrapbooking and card making.
4 - Use the image of your choice.

Wow.. I actually scrapped my own pictures!

Last night Megan and I went to our new Wednesday night activity. Our LSS "She Runs With Scissors" has a late night crop n' shop every Wednesday night. We have a lot of fun and seem to get a lot done. It is also a nice night away from the husband and kids.

I've been so bogged down with swaps, that I usually work on those while I'm there. Last night I got a swap done plus I actually scrapped a page for me.. well for the boys. When we came home I stayed up until 3am finishing a similar page so that each boy could have one in their books.

I feel so accomplished. I have realized that I need to slow down on doing the swapping and start getting some of my pictures on the pages that I have swapped as well as do some of my own pages!

I am still having so much fun learning and playing and I'm so glad that I finally gave in to the scrapbooking craze!

Here are the pages I did last night. The camping themed paper came from a Secret Sister Swap that I participated in on SplitCoastStampers. The kits were designed to make 8x8 pages, but I decided to stretch it out and make 12x12 pages instead. Since the papers were designed to only make pages for one album - I had to improvise for the title - and on the second one I cut "Camping" out on the Cricut using the Plantin' Schoolbook cartridge.

I'm really happy with how they turned out - and I still have lots of paper to use from the SS kit.

Crafty Critters Challenge #1

So here is my challenge for the blog group that I'm in. The challenge was to use a critter and also use green and yellow on it.

It is simple, but I like it. It took a me a few tries to get it just right. I'm loving the Stampin' Up set - Live Like you Mean It - that is where the saying comes from... I've used it several times over the last few days. The dragonfly is not SU - I actually bought it at a garage sale for 10 cents. :-)

The card stock is all scrap - I think both the green and yellow are SU - but I'm not 100% positive. The ribbon is from Dollarama.

Thanks for looking.

I wish there was some way to slow time down!

Have you ever noticed that time seems to be passing quicker and quicker. It seems like yesterday I posted on here... and now that I look it has been two weeks!

I finally got a chance to download my pictures... I can't find the cord to my camera - it is probably packed in the storage unit still... and my card reader on my computer doesn't work anymore ... so I have to abscond hubby's laptop every so often to download - put onto a zip drive - and then transfer to my desk top so I can then back them up on my external hard drive.... such a process and I guess I have been lazy. When I went to download I had over 800 pictures to sort through... I haven't downloaded since November... oops!

It was fun to relive some of those photos.... Putting up the Christmas tree,

a snow day with Meg's kids,

making gingerbread houses,

Christmas,

lots of hockey,

a trip into the little town that I grew up in,

and of course some scrapbooking. I'll save those pictures for another post. I have to be on the road in 7 hours... so best I get some sleep......... off for more hockey!!!

Two In One Week........ Shocking!!

So........... I've joined a group of girls who are going to encourage each other to share our creations, and keep up our blogs! So far so good!

I have had a crazy week including a quick trip to Vancouver for the weekend. Brayden had a fabulous opportunity to participate in a hockey skills camp, at GM Place. He was so excited to be skating on the the same ice that the Canucks had just skated on the previous night.

I've got a busy week ahead of me, I'm already booked for 2.5 days of teaching, I've got meetings and doctors appointments, plus I have to plan for this coming weekend when we are once again on the road for sports. Carsyn and Butch are headed to Victoria for Carsyn's first "Junior Development" soccer tournament. Brayden and I are headed to Gold River (joy oh joy) for a full day of hockey - minimum 3 games possibly 4!

Wednesday night I will be out at a late night crop with Megan. She Run's With Scissors - one of our LSS holds a "Crop n' Shop" every Wednesday - we've been a couple of times and have decided to do it every night that we can.

I think the biggest excitement for us this week is Tuesday marks one full year since we received our finalization papers for the boys. In some ways it seems hard to believe, and in other ways it just seems like they have been with us forever!! We will spend Tuesday at Butch's mom's house where we are having a huge family dinner - complete with one of Butch's best friend's family. Bill has come home for a visit from Toronto - this will be the first time he has met our boys. It is usually a fun night - how can it not be fun when there are 20 people around for dinner.

Well, I need to find something scrappy to put on here... so here we go.. I only started scrapbooking last July. Here is my very first layout I did. It is a 2 page, 8x8 layout that I did for a swap. I loved it so much I almost didn't send it away!

So....... not a lot of scrappy stuff... I have more on my camera that need to be downloaded - but I've lost my cord and my hubby is on the laptop where I could just put the SD card into to download. I'll do those another day.

Thanks for looking!
