Critter Challenge Blog - Challenge #29

Here is a layout of my kids and nephew from Halloween 2009. My "rapper" boys weren't going to go out for Halloween... so we didn't get costumes organized. Around 3:oo on Halloween day they decided to go... so they came up with their costumes all from stuff around the house. I thought they turned out pretty darn good!

The title is a little hard to see in these photos but it says "Disguise da limit".

Paper is by Reminise - love the holographic paper!
Green is Stampin' Up - Kiwi Kiss (I think is the name!)
Title cut from Cricut - Cuttin' Up and the limit is cut from Graphically speaking - actually cuts out "limits" but I was able to cut the 's' off.

Our sponsor this month limeLight Papercrafts is simply amazing!!! Right now they are having a moving sale so make sure you hop over and check it out

We hope that you will head on over to the Critter Challenge Blog and enter your creation for a chance to win our monthly draw. Every time you play with us you get a chance to win from our fabulous sponsor.

Here is my husband's middle sister's family. Lauri, Doug, Brechan, Caedra and Dougie. Brechan (17)and Caedra (almost 15)are both amazing volleyball players. It wouldn't surprise me to see these two make a career out of volleyball, they are just that good! Dougie (11) love hockey and soccer. For the past two years he has played on the Rep hockey team, and is currently trying out for this season's team.

Cliffy!!

One of my all time favourite hockey players is Cliff Ronning. I really don't even know why! He played for the Vancouver Canucks and I've always just love him. He is now playing on a team for the NHL Legends. They came to our town to play the local RCMP team to raise money for our Minor Hockey Association. I was so stoked when I heard he was coming that I took a ton of photos (purged a lot, and printed a lot in 2x3).

The background paper is the backside of Oasis - by Three Bugs in a Rug.
The big 7 is cut from Bazzill - don't remember the colour.
The letters were cut from scraps in my bucket - most likely from Michael's.

The 7 and letters were cut from the new Cricut Lite "Varsity Letters" cartridge. I love this font for doing sports related pages. I know I will get a TON of use out of it.

Guest Challenger - Critter Challenge Blog - Challenge #28

I was honoured that Melanie, the fabulous owner of the Critters Sketch Challenge Blog asked me to be a guest challenger. So.. here is what I came up with...

Challenge #28
Please use the colour red and striped patterned paper somewhere on your creation. I'd love to see something summer related. If you create a scrapbook page it can be of a trip from this summer or summer's past or an activity that is generally summer related (swimming, camping, etc.) If you create a card or another project it could contain suns, bright colors, etc. The sky is the limit but remember colour red, stripped patterned paper, and summery.

Here is what I came up with.. I'm (still) working on our trip from last summer. We spent 10 days in California and loved every minute of it. This layout was from our trip to Legoland, which wasn't the best experience as our boys were really too old to enjoy it, but we loved looking at the amazing structures that were made out of Lego.

Firefighting is a big thing on my husband's side of the family, his dad was a fire fighter, and our brother in law is as well. So this layout is in honour of them.

I don't often find an opportunity to use the adorable paper that is out there for boys. I had been drooling over this paper, but really couldn't find a use for it for my 12 and 13 year old boys. However, while at a Crop Night at my LSS, I was working on my Legoland pictures, saw this and knew I had to use it for these photos.

Summer Challenge

So.. one of my fabulous Paper Princess blog girls (Hi Melina!!!) came up with a great idea. A card challenge.. the first theme, Summer!

Each month a hostess mails kits to each of their team members the kit is to include 2 or 3 images stamped on white cardstock in waterproof ink, 1 ~ 6x6 piece of dp, 2-3 embellishments, 1 sentiment.

This month our hostess was April... and boy did she send out a doozy of a kit!!! Black cardstock, some amazing orangey, reddish, purplish glitter paper (can you say yummy!!!!) Some fabulous little black glittery discs - I'd love to know what they are!!, three white glitter brads, and some black Stampin' Up ribbon. And then.. I saw the stamped image.. and ... I thought.. UGGH! I'm not a stamper.. I love to colour - but I'm not very good at it... and this image.. well.. you need to be a good colourer!! (Yes.. I know that isn't a word!) I absolutlely love to look at these stamps.. Sweet Pea~Rising Flame .. and I love how people colour them.. but they are so imtimidating!!!

So.. I kept looking at it.. and looking at it.. finally last night I knew I had to get working on it... so.. because I am a crappy colourer... I took a copy of it just in case I screwed up. I was at a LSS crop and was colouring (and moaning) away.. and the girl across the table asked if she could colour the extra one I had. So.. I said.. sure.... she asked what I was doing with it.. I showed her the amazing paper April sent.. and told her to have at it. I continued to colour the one I was working on... and soon realized that I had nothing that compared to what she was doing. So.. I gave up. This girl spent 2 hours.. colouring my image... so I hope that is okay!!

I created the card. I added the extra white paper, and the purple Coredinations paper. I also spritzed the entire image with Smooch Spray in Vanilla... love the little bit of shimmer that it gives.. even though you can't see it in the photo.

Oh.. and I didn't find the little sentiment until right before I was finishing the card.. so had to redo my design a little.. but I think it still works... what do you think??

California Adventure... at night

Just a quick and simple layout we took in the evening at California Adventure. I love the picture of the neon signs.. think it looks like a post card... but I actually took the photo (with my crappy camera).

Not much to this one.. just some Coredinations cardstock as the base and three big brads in the corner.

Bling for Boys

In keeping with the theme this week over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.. here is another scrapbook page done for my boys that has a bit of bling. I love these rhinestone circles... I got really lucky one day, one of my LSS was clearing out a bunch of these in various colours and shapes, between my sister and I, we cleaned them out.. I think I bought about 30 of them!

This is another layout from our trip last year... I think I am going to need about 5 albums to contain all these pages I've done... but I have also learned from this experience... purge, purge, purge those pictures before getting started. This was our first family vacation with the boys, and I really wanted to document it... however, next time.. I won't be scrapping this many pages... I'm hoping that if I say it enough times, I'll actually believe myself! (haha)

Here are my handsome boys standing in front of Shamu's tank.. before they got wet!

Critter Challenge Blog - Challenge #27

So this week, is a challenge near and dear to my heart. I love to scrapbook for my boys.. and I'm not afraid to use some bling on their pages. They actually love it! So.. if you've read between the lines... you may have guessed our challenge.. this week, we have been challenged to create a man or boy card or scrapbook page. AND!! the twist is it must contain the use of glitter. Tricky, tricky!!!!! Think outside of the box!!!! Your glitter can be Stickles or anything that shimmers.

This is a simple, yet fun layout. These are my boys and nephew, who managed to get outside on the only day we had snow this past winter. When I saw this paper (on clearance) at my LSS.. the extra wording popped right into my head and I knew I had to have this paper.. especially since it was on sale!

Below the "in the winter we can build a snowman" that was printed on the paper when purchased, I added "except this year the only snow we got was too wet! Winter 2010"
(The pictures were taken in January).

So for my "glitter".. I have Stickled the snowman's heart and hat in Burgandy, his nose in Orange Peel, his hat in Black Diamond, and outlined him and the snow in Frosted Lace.
Paper is 3 bugs in a Rug - Let is Snow and the mat is Coredinations - Poinsettia

Sorry to be MIA.. but Summer is Here!!

Hello!

Sorry I haven't had a blog post in a while but I've been enjoying summer. I have found some time to craft... so I have lots to share.. I just hate the process of photographing my layouts, downloading them, cropping them, then sorting and uploading... why can't it just happen all by itself?!?

Well, I have sat down today and uploaded posts for the next month or so... yep.. I've been that creative this summer.... as a matter of fact.. I scrapbooked 12 pages while we were camping at the beginning of the month. My sister even brought her Cricut to plug into my van.

So.. I think I will start by sharing some family photos... last summer, my family (husband's side) got together to do family photos. We did individual families and the kids and Nana... (you can see Nana and her grandkids here). So I thought it would be cool to do pages of all the families. On the same day my sister and her family came to get photos done as well.. we went a mile or so down the beach and did photos from my side of the family - minus my mom as we were doing them for a surprise for her. You'll see these all over the coming months.

Critter Challenge Blog - Challenge #25

Can you believe it is the start of a new month?!? Our summer is just flying by! Hard to believe my boys will be back to school in 5 weeks. This month, our new fantabulous sponsor is LimeLIGHT Papercrafts.

I had to take a little creative license with my scrapbook page - but I did my best to follow the sketch - and I have the two different colours of ribbon as well.

This week we challenge you to use the following sketch AND we would like you to use a minimum of 2 different ribbons. The middle block should contain your image.

We hope that you will head on over to the Critter Challenge Blog and enter your creation for a chance to win our monthly draw. Every time you play with us you get a chance to win from our fabulous sponsor.
