Critter Sketch Challenge #145

Welcome to another week at the

I am sure some of you are wondering... a baby girl page?  Well this isn't for me..  one of my dear friends had a baby a month ago and her shower was yesterday.  I decided I would make her an album.  I tried so hard to have it done in time, but I had a big fall on Thursday night - and was way too sore to work on it.  So I gave it to her half done and took it home with me after the shower.  She loved it and can't wait to see what the rest of it looks like.

I decided I would buy the Bella Blvd. "Baby Girl" combo pack and see how far I could take it by just adding  cardstock and a few embellishments like buttons and brads.  So far so good..  I've done 15 pages and I still have five full pages and a bunch of "scraps".  I should have not trouble getting all 20 pages down with just the one paper kit.  Now, it was hard to find 20 pieces of pink/purple cardstock (for backgrounds) plus some for matting etc. - I managed to get it from my stash - but now I really have no pink/purple cardstock...  good thing I have boys.

Supplies -
Monkey Paper and Baby Love sticker - Bella Blvd. "Baby Girl"
Lilac - DCWV
Hot Pink - Bazzill Bling
Dark Purple and white paper from my stash
Buttons and twine from my stash

Here is the fabulous sketch from sketch artist Colleen Spangler.

Critter Sketch Challenge Blog - Challenge 141

Welcome to another challenge from Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is a sketch...  I absolutely loved the sketch and knew right away that I would be able to easily turn it into layout.

When I showed my kids and hubby this layout - they both asked why the picture was upside down... but really - that's how Molly was sleeping.. tucked up under the blanket - and you can't really see because of the flash - but she looks like she's holding the edge of the blanket.  She's such an adorable dog!

Supplies - Cardstock - I think it was Recollections, patterned paper and embellishments are all from Bella Blvd.'s "Tail Waggers and Cat Naps" line.  I also used Stickles to bling up the strip across the top.

Here is the sketch from the fabulous sketch designer Colleen Spangler.

This month we are being sponsored by A Creative Need.  They are providing us with a prize to give away each week in November!!!

Critter Challenge #137

Welcome to another challenge from over at the

This month we are being sponsored by
Soft Pencil, pop over to see their cute stamps!

This week our challenge was to use our favourite thing about fall as our inspiration.  Well the first year our boys came, my sister dragged me to the pumpkin patch.  I really didn't want to go - not sure why, but I just wasn't into it.. well that was until we got there.  We had so much FUN!  It was seriously one of the best days ever.  I actually did 12 double page layouts just from that day.

This picture is from our second year.
We always have lots of laughs.

Supplies: Paper, chipboard, flag are all from the Bella Blvd "Thankful" line.  The buttons are from Bella Blvd as well.

Two important things before you go..

Critter Challenge #135

Welcome to a new month over at the

This month we are being sponsored by
Soft Pencil, who has the most adorable digital stamps, pop over to see!

So this month we were given the following recipe to use... two different ribbons, two brads, and 2 different colours of paper (can be patterned).

Here is my layout.

My oldest son playing Spring Soccer.

I did cheat a little, instead of using two ribbons, I used one ribbon and one strip of Washi tape.  I have found that I'm using less and less ribbon and more and more Washi tape.

Supplies:
Ribbon - blue from my stash
Cardstock base - Bazzill
Patterned Paper - Bella Blvd.
Brads - American Crafts
Washi Tape - Bella Blvd.

Critter Challenge 131 - School is Cool

Ok..  so I know that most kids are back in school already, but my kids don't start until this week, Carsyn - who is starting Grade Nine starts on Tuesday.  Brayden who is going into Grade 10 starts Wednesday.  This year we had a major reconfiguration amongst the grades so both boys are starting at High School together.

This is a picture from June, on the last day of school.  This is my long haired boy, Brayden. (Who thankfully chose to cut his hair last week!!) The third boy is Carsyn's best friend - who stays with us often as he lives on the outskirts of town and plays sports in town and it is just easier for him to stay with us.

When I saw the "later gator" in Bella Blvds. "Baby Boy" line I just knew I had to use them for the boys' last day at Southgate, where their school mascot was a gator.

Supplies used:
All product - paper, buttons, flag were from Bella Blvd.'s - Baby Boy line

Please make sure you check out the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog and enter your "School is Cool" creation.  You just might win the monthly prize!

Challenge 127 - Round it Up!

Another challenge over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.

Here is my layout...  I have been wanting to scrapbook these pictures for a long time and when I saw the "Round it Up" challenge I knew that these big round moons would be the perfect photos.

I love this sketch, which I learned in a class that Jennifer Edwardson teaches.  I have used layout several times - I love that I can get the details along with the big pictures.

Supplies Used: All of the paper is from Sei's "Moon Rise"; letters were in an open package in my stash.

Please make sure you check out our monthly sponsor and enter your chance to win their fantastic prize.

Back again for another week over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.

This week we were given yet another fantastic sketch by Colleen Spangler.

When I saw this sketch come in my mailbox I was super excited... so many possibilities....  I love that it is square.. makes it so easy to make a layout out of it.  This layout took me 15 minutes..  seriously!  So come on.. who doesn't have 15 minutes to whip something together!

I find that even when I make cards... which is so seldom.. they are usually square... I can see that I will probably use this sketch often in the future.. it is also a great way to use up some scraps!!

Here is what I came up with.. sorry about the crappy lighting... I need to learn to take my pictures in the day time!!

Here is my "Molly" sitting in my front window sill.  It is her favourite spot to sit/sleep/bark!

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper - Echo Park - Woof!

Cardstock- Navy and Yellow Bling - Bazzill, Red - Coredinations.

Please hop over to the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog and enter your creation - whatever it may be!

Critter Sketch Challenge Blog - Challenge #123 - Colour Inspiration

Hi and welcome to another week over at the Critter Sketch this week we are headed back over to
Design-seeds.com (click the link to see the photo) for another fabulous colour inspiration photo.
Now I love these colours, but I'm Canadian, and we don't have blue in our patriotic colours, so I played around a little and came up with two different ideas for this week's challenge.

Since there was blue in the inspiration photo, I used blue as my background for this layout of my darling puppy, Molly - she was so little back then, and now, she's almost two and unfortunately lost most of her wonderful colourings and she's pretty much all white - she's still adorable and we just love the joy she brings to us.

And then....  I decided to do a patriotic layout.  I probably could have put this one on a blue background too, but I really wanted to showcase our Red and White. I did use the sketch (see below) from another layout, and I sewed on it!  I did four copies of the same layout...(my sister and I often scrapbook for each other if our kids have been at the same event - it is much easier to do four similar pages than to try and come up with all new ideas).

Brayden

Here's the version that I copied... click the picture to see the original blog post.

Challenge #115 - Flowers

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day.  This was the fifth Mother's Day that I have been a Mom and I have to say, by far it was the best yet.  I was able to sleep in, had a wonderful brunch prepared by my husband and boys.  Then I had a relax time while the boys' finished tidying up and preparing things for dinner.  The boys had a soccer game so we all headed off to enjoy the beautiful sunshine, I think summer may finally be on the way!!  After soccer the boys finished up getting ready for dinner and we had my mom, mother-in-law and aunt over for the most delicious meal!  Thanks for spoiling me today boys!  I loved every single minute of it!

On to this week's challenge over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.  This one - was actually my challenge, a weird one for me - flowers!  Now, you all know that I'm a scrapbooker, and I have boys - so not a whole lot of flowers being used in my creations - but I am not afraid of them!

I loved these pictures of my mom, my boys and my nephew.  We spent a day at the most incredible sandy beach that is only 20 minutes from home.  It is definitely a hidden jewel and makes me think I am somewhere tropical.

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Base is Stampin' Up, and the dark blue is Bazzill
Patterned paper, stickers, letters, etc - Bella Blvd.

Challenge #113 - Sketch

Back again for another week over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.

This week we were given yet another fantastic sketch by Colleen Spangler.  I love Colleen's sketches because they are so versatile.  I had no trouble taking this from a "card" sketch to a scrapbook sketch.

So.. here is what I came up with...

These pictures take me so far back.  We had only had the boys a month and were out camping for the first time as a "family".  I was SHOCKED when they told me they had NEVER had a S'more!  Really?!  Seriously?!  I thought they were kidding at first - but they really had never had the honour of eating the most amazing camping treat!  The boys look so young - it is hard to believe that we are fast approaching five years together!

Products Used:
Patterned Paper, Title, Smores - Imaginisce - Happy Camper
Cardstock - Brown - Bazzill, Blue - American Crafts
Twine and Buttons - from my stash

I was going to cut my pictures into circles - but my circle cutters seem to have taken a walk and I just didn't have the patience to try and cut them on my Cricut - I think I need to find a tutorial on how to cut photos with the Cricut.

Critter Sketch Challenge Blog - Challenge #111 - Fairies

Ok..  this week threw me..  over at the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog for challenge #111 - we were given the theme of Fairies..  yes..  Fairies.  Well, if you follow my blog, you will know by now that first of all I'm more of a scrapbooker than a card maker, and second of all I have teenage boys.  So..  not a lot of use for fairies.  I tried... and tried.. even went to the local scrapbook store to find something.. but alas I came up empty handed. My sister said "hey.. isn't Tinkerbelle a fairy?" ..  yes she is - but we didn't see her in Disneyland... so I couldn't even scrap those pages.

So..  I've done something I never thought I would do.  I am reposting something from way back.  I have always loved this card - and it is still in my stash because I just haven't found the right person to give it to.  I figure one of the boys will eventually give it to a girlfriend! Tee hee!

Please forgive me... I will do my best to never, ever repeat again.  Sorry!

So.. while I was typing this up I thought.. heck.. since I am repeating..  I might as well share this..  I guess we did see Tinkerbelle..  but not until we got home.

This is one of my favourite layouts.. even though I didn't create it..  I am grateful that my boys have this layout in their books.  Michelle had created these pages for a swap - and then it turned out that we would be in Disneyland at the same time - so we met up had a quick visit and then headed off for fun.

Head on over to the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog - and show us your fairy creations!

Critter Sketch Challenge # 107 - Sketch

So.. it has been a long while since I posted.  Sorry I missed the last Critter Sketch Challenge for my group, but I was soooo sick.  I honestly don't think I have been that sick in 20 years.  I ended up with Viral Bronchitis and let me tell you it was not fun.  I managed to only miss one day of work, but for almost three weeks all I did was sleep and work.  No scrapping, no nothing!  I am still feeling it a little, but I am definitely on the mend....  anyways.. sorry for the ramble...  on to this weeks fabulous Critter Challenge.

I always love a when I can take a sketch and turn it into a layout.  Here is what I came up with..  I stayed fairly true to the sketch with the exception of the circle.  I don't know why but I just don't seem to like cutting pictures into circles.  The sticker at the bottom - where the sentiment is supposed to be says "Superhero", because my husband is definitely the superhero in my family.

Supplies Used:
Blue Cardstock - Bazzil
Rust Coloured Cardstock - Coredinations - I love this stuff because you can totally distress it - which I did - I took my Making Memories sander and just rubbed it all over - so the white spots you see on there are there on purpose!  :)
The green strip of paper, the blue border sticker and the two stickers in the bottom right corner are all from Fancy Pants - Father and Son collection.
Buttons, brads and eyelets are all in my stash so have no clue which company they belong to.

Here is the sketch that we were given to follow.

Please don't forget to stop by our fabulous sponsor - Digital Delights!!
They are having a big sale until the end of March!!
